Exam done. It wasn't great, but it was alright - it seemed to concentrate a little too heavily on being able to identify inflammatory cells (which I'm crap at).

I have loads of mouth ulcers at the moment (~12), and having just done an alimentary exam, I'm convinced I've got ulcerative stomatitis, or possibly foot and mouth disease, or even malignant catarrhal fever. The problem with veterinary knowledge! You think you have the symptoms of diseases it's impossible for you to catch. The ultimate hyperchondria!

Or maybe you're a PI with BVD getting mucosal disease while spreading BVD merrily left and right - noticed any of your housemates using the bathroom a lot lately? :P

Apparently, human aphthous ulcers are often down to problems with toothbrushing - either a reaction to a common ingredient in toothpaste or because the brush is too harsh and makes little nicks in the buccal mucosa which turn into proper ulcers. Then of course there's always herpes, but we'll say nothing of that...

Personally, I blame the vet course for making me a parasite-obsessed hypochondriac. The worst thing is that because we think we know something about it, we must therefore be more likely to be right if we *do* have these suspicions!

That probably should have been "we think because", not "because we think".

This comment probably sounds quite philosophical if taken out of context!
