I've just finished going through Module 3, and am not far off making lecture notes for the other 3 modules. Getting there...

Last Friday was the "What you wanted to be when you were younger" bop, which was really really good fun - probably one of the best bops for a while. Vicky, Iona, Erika and me went shopping (yes, I was a girl for the afternoon) for costumes, and I picked up a hard-hat from an army surplus store for £7. I need more use out of it, so no-doubt next year whenever I do any sort of DIY I'll be putting on my hard-hat. "You need a plug rewiring? Of course, I'll just go and get my hard-hat".

One never can be too careful.

But yargh, bop was good fun and photos (with my exciting new camera!) are available on flickr.

Three Strikes...

I have mining heritage. My father is from Lancashire, which is not very miney, but, though I may have forgotten when reporting on Bop-Japes(TM) to my Mum, most of the people on the Welsh side of the family were infact miners. As would be expected. So, when I donned charcoal and STRIKE NOW sign (lovingly penned by Alex) last night for our 20th Century bop I poked those saddened Clareites from their slumbers, and got a few "Solidarity" shouts (mostly from those wearing hammer and sickles), and a few "Strikes" from Reece. Yes, strike has two meanings. Ouch.

Bops are fancy-dress, and the theme was 20th Century - hence the hammers and sickles, and minerisation. Reece went as a cowboy (with Aviators), Alex went as a flapper (complete with bright lipstick and MANY coats of mascara) and Vicky went as a beatnick (complete with beret).

Yaaaaaargh.

Halloween

Yay Halloween bop. Was quite a good night, everyone seemed to have a good time. I had a bloody-mary, which was surprisingly nice (seeing as I don't like tomato juice), even if the tabasco in it did give me hiccoughs. Somehow I had been convinced to go in drag, living up the love of last year's theme, and ignoring this years one. I had beautiful pink tights, a little denim skirt and holterneck... mmm... nice. Danced around to strange Uncle Will the Vet's DJing and then afterwards went to The Van of Life for a burger. Wasn't quite Gardies, but saved us queuing for quite as long as we would have had to.

The Cambridge Return

Oh Cambridge, how I have missed thee. It's great to be back. My new room is hooooooge, and has two enormous single glazed windows, which together with the teensy little fire, make it very very cold, but, I can randomly skip around when I get bored as I have the floor space.

College meal went pretty well (excepting me managing to pour red wine down my jumper... ahem) - both kiddies are very nice. Such a proud father! The freshers' bop was great, if packed with unknown faces, which was a little weird. My elephant costume worked superbly, though it did make speaking to people a little difficult (especially drunken freshers who didn't recognise that it was an elephant). As usual, the bop became a chance for people to vent issues, but nothing exploded like it has before, so relief was felt.

Hippies and Raver's Bop!

What a day - Punting in the afternoon, a beautiful meal in the afternoon, and then the bop of joy in the evening. The 3 for 2 champagne was pretty nice too! I loved the new t-shirt and flower. Everyone was supernice. Singing "What we are saying is give peace a chance!" on the sofa with Alex, Hannah and Mark was most enjoyable.
