Ads

Some of the more astute amongst you may have noticed that some ads have appeared on the page (on the right-hand nav bar). Sorry, but if it helps, it's because I realised I don't give any money to charity. If by any chance I do make any money from the ads, it'll all go towards Macmillan Cancer Care.

New Monkey Pose!

As you may have noticed, there is a new monkey picture - the first one for... well, over a year! I hope you enjoy it and fingers crossed there might be a few more on the way if I can get my creative juices flowing!

Profile errors?

I've just realised that my profile random question reads the following:

Q: Your pajamas have duckies on them. Why did you switch from choo-hoos?
A: I would probably cover myself in golden syrup and then roll in sawdust. Mmm. Crunchy

Of course this is an answer to a completely different question, but I'm going to leave it for comedy value.

tomthevet - a prognathic mitten man

As my previous blog pointed out, the name prognathic mitten man was an ingenious and anthropology fuelled invention of Alex's and refers more to me than the pictured monkey. Of course, I am not progathic (just see this attractive picture), and previously had no mittens. HOWEVER, as of the 11th of February (Alex and my anniversary) I have fair trade mittens. One more step on the way to fitting my oh so fitting title.

Broken blog! [update]

As you can see, my blog is currently a little broken... I am battling to fix this, but I don't really know what's gone wrong. I tried to remove the background image (as it was annoying on computers with bigger/smaller than 1024 resolution), and it all broke! Bear with me!

Update:

BLOG FIXED.

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

I'm glad to see that this blog is No.1 on a Google search for "mitten man". I was worried it actually meant something!

currently listening, The Cure - Bloodflowers. Probably not the most relaxing thing for trying to get to sleep, but a really good album none-the-less

Happy Birthday Blog

Five days ago, it was this blog's 2nd birthday! I guess this exciting redesign can be a part of the birthday celebrations.

addendum...

It has been brought to my attention by a Mr Greg that my pictured monkey is, infact, agnathic, being neither prognathic or in the possession of any jaw bones. However, the original quote (referring to one "Tomthevet") stands as "A prognathic mitten-man", for reasons unknown (excepting a slight overstudying of primate-skulls).

I hope that has cleared up some confusion.

Tom (A prognathic mitten man)
and "Chimpy" (An agnathic knitted-chimp).

p.s. This is Post No. 250! Wow.

Banners!

As you can probably seen, my blog has just risen about 900 points in the beauty and general eye-pleasing imageyness scale . Allow me to demonstrate:

0 (black screen)
10 (Cambridge bioanth website)
100 (My old blog)
1000 (My new blog)

I found out how to randomise banner images (see this link) and made some pretty pictures involving PG-tips monkey. Yes, not only am I advertising an admittedly quite poor tea company, I'm also showing off my monkey - who is damned cool. And also, the random "prognathic mitten-man" makes ever so slightly more sense when there's a knitted (like mittens) monkey (usually prognathic, though this one less so) on the front page in numerous situations vaguely relevant to my life. Expect many more as the exams get nearer and as I venture further afield with the monkey. There are 4 so far... press F5 or click here to refresh the page and see them all.

Hope you enjoy!

Tom

Photos

I've joined flickr as an attempt to make my photos more easily available online, as blogger is often a little unsure of which photos it'll keep, and not everyone has access to facebook. My URL is http://www.flickr.com/photos/recognisetheview/ with the username recognisetheview if you just want to search for me from the main page. All the pic resize to 800 pixels, so if you want a BIG original copy, then just email me!

Enjoy!

tomthevet or poor tom?

I was reminded the other day of the wonder that was "poor Tom" as made famous by the ally-todd-skating-band (animated by M. Power). Should +++tomthevet+++ become Poor Tom? THIS is the question on everybody's lips...

www.atsb.co.nr (excuse the popups)

Ally Todd is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as being the front man of the UK outfit the Alastair Todd Skating Band. His name has become to mean a number of words
1) Noun. (a) An Ally Todd, one with unrivalable charisma, brilliance, an intelligent person, a wise person (b) To do an Ally Todd. To perform a miracle
2) Verb, Infinitive Ally Todd. to fly, to rap, to beat, to win, to skate
3) Adjective. Ally Todd. colourful, loud, skillful, incredible, magical, unbeatable.

tomthevet.blogspot.com NEW and IMPROVED

I'm now using blogger beta, so there've been a few changes. Each post now has some labels associated with it, and you can use these to help you navigate to the posts you want to see. When I'm at uni, and if exciting stuff happens there, then that's the label I use. Any posts with photos are labelled and so are all the posts related to vetty or farming related things. You get the idea. Find them all at the bottom of the sidebar.

I hope you like the new layout! Remember to keep on commenting, whoever you are - it's great hearing that people do actually read this. Infact, if you fancy, just say hi on this post :p

Linkies!

Just added some new links - mostly people's blogs.

  • jenauparis: Jen has resurrected the jenbiscuit blog to tell us all about her year in Paris. We await her first post.
  • ponytime: The long awaited Andrew-Bates centre of the internet. Wanna see his belly? Click here. And God bewithyou.
  • Play Scrabble Online: Make Simon Spiro Proud

In celebration of it being nearly a year since I began this text of literary genius (ahem), I have brought together some of the greatest and weirdest blogs of the last year. Just to tickle your fancy.

There are others I could have included, lots of bops, and farming stuff, but you can peruse that at your own will. I'm so confident you'll be interested :S... self flattery is important!

Enjoy!

Naked Hippies????

As you may have noticed, I have a counter on my blog. This can tell me where people have come from when they find my site (only if they click a link - using a bookmark or typing it in won't tell me anything), and, I found this:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Apparently, someone searching for "Naked Hippies", on MSN search, found my blog, as a result of Rob's escapades and the Hippies and Ravers Bop. How disturbing!

AAAAND! Just to prove that I wasn't the one searching for Naked Hippies, here's the entry in my counter-thingie (it says no thumbnail, but you can still click on it). I use google anyway.

p.s. ooh! Just found 2 more searches that people used too - Clare May Ball Photos, and Batman Quotes. WOW!

New Layout

I got bored of the old one, so here's a brand spanking, shiny (if simplistic) new one. I've changed the colours from the default white as that was REALLY dull!

makepovertyhistory

makepovertyhistory. Added a banner. Can't be a bad thing I guess, although I think there is scarily obsessive amounts of optimism in their website. It's clearly not going to do much. Feeling critcal today.

MIMS today was alright - i could do the essays which is always a bonus. The afternoon was HOM practical paper... wasn't nice - some evil physics questions, but I think I passed.

Tomorrow is HOM. OOOOH dear :S. This could quite possibly go pear shaped, although I have finally mastered cardiovascular and kidneys this evening.

Right. BED.
